Privacy Policy for FileDrop

Last updated: July 5, 2026

1. Who we are

FileDrop is a Shopify app operated by Digi Pioneers Inc. (“Digi Pioneers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). FileDrop helps Shopify merchants collect customer-uploaded files, images, artwork, and personalization text, and may show a product preview before checkout.

You can contact us at info@digipioneers.ca.

2. Scope of this policy

This policy explains how FileDrop handles information when a Shopify merchant installs or uses the app and when a customer uploads files or enters personalization information through a merchant’s Shopify store.

The Shopify merchant remains responsible for its own store privacy policy, customer relationship, products, and order fulfillment.

3. Information we may collect

Merchant and store information

When a merchant installs or uses FileDrop, we may receive information such as store name, Shopify store domain, merchant contact email, app configuration settings, product identifiers, theme or storefront configuration details needed to operate the app, and billing or subscription status provided through Shopify.

Customer upload and personalization information

When a customer uses FileDrop on a merchant’s store, we may process uploaded images, files, artwork, design references, text entries, names, messages, notes, product selections, order identifiers, cart identifiers, and other information submitted for the purpose of customizing a product or completing an order.

Technical information

We may collect technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information, timestamps, logs, error reports, and usage events needed for security, troubleshooting, analytics, and app performance.

4. How we use information

We use information to provide and improve FileDrop, including to:

  • Enable customer uploads and text personalization on Shopify product pages
  • Generate or display product previews
  • Connect upload and personalization details to carts, products, or orders
  • Support merchants and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug errors
  • Comply with legal, contractual, and Shopify platform obligations

5. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may share or make information available only as needed to operate FileDrop, including with:

  • The Shopify merchant whose store collected the upload or personalization details
  • Shopify, where required for app operation, billing, installation, or platform compliance
  • Service providers that help us host, store, process, secure, or support the app
  • Law enforcement, regulators, or other parties where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security

6. Customer-uploaded files

Customers should only upload content they have the right to use for the requested product. Merchants are responsible for reviewing uploaded content, fulfilling orders, and deciding whether content is appropriate for their store and products.

7. Data retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide FileDrop, support merchants, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and meet Shopify platform requirements.

Retention periods may vary based on the type of data, merchant configuration, order status, legal requirements, and whether the merchant continues using FileDrop.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information processed through FileDrop. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International processing

Information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have privacy laws that differ from the laws in the merchant’s or customer’s location.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

FileDrop may use cookies, local storage, pixels, or similar technologies when necessary to provide app features, remember upload or preview state, maintain security, or understand app performance. Merchants are responsible for making any cookie or consent disclosures required for their own store.

11. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection to certain processing of personal information.

If you are a merchant, contact us at info@digipioneers.ca. If you are a customer of a Shopify merchant using FileDrop, you may contact the merchant directly or email us. We may need to coordinate with the merchant to verify and respond to your request.

12. Shopify mandatory webhooks and data requests

Where required by Shopify, FileDrop will support applicable privacy and data-protection workflows, such as shop data deletion, customer data requests, and customer data erasure requests, subject to legal and operational requirements.

13. Children’s privacy

FileDrop is intended for use by Shopify merchants and their customers in connection with ecommerce orders. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children except where submitted through a merchant’s store as part of an order and controlled by that merchant.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes may be communicated through the website, app, or merchant-facing notices where appropriate.
